I think this is the best version of the book that you can find online. It's typed, not scanned. Samuelson's text was first published in 1948, and it immediately became the authority for the principles of economics courses.

This is my third economics textbook. You see, after I retired, I started reading the blogs of economists, and then I decided I wanted to read an economics textbook. But the first two books I bought (Macroeconomics by Mankiw and Economics by Taylor) I found too boring to read. This book, on the other hand, is written in a style that is entertaining as well as informative. It is a delight to read.

Excellent reference & educational source on economics.

I had to order this for a class (although isn't that the case with most textbooks?). Being an econ text, I had low expectations. But I was pleasantly surprised. This book is written in (mostly) plain English. The chapters are just as long as they need to be. And although it provides the complicated math mumbo-jumbo, for those who would understand it, the authors certainly do not focus on it. I'm about to embark on my MPP and may hold on to this as a reference for the duration of my student days.
