I enjoyed this a lot more than I thought I would. I have read a lot of Michael Jackson biographies since his death, some of which were re-hashes of things others had already published. This one is quite different and I was very pleased with it. This book covers the 1970s and early 1980s, up to approximately the time of Thriller. There is a lot of information here about Michael's early days that I hadn't read before. It is mainly culled from magazine interviews and articles -- so if you happen to have read all those early-days articles, you may not get as much from this as I did. But if you're more familiar with Michael since Thriller onward, you'd probably really enjoy this book for a glimpse into the early Michael.

Thank you, Nelson George for such a fabulous book. I am a little late in reading as I was unaware of its existence until recently. I enjoyed every single word written; the only regret I have is that the stories were too short!!!
I am aware that the author has a new book (that is now out) called Thriller and I can hardly wait to get my ordered copy and begin delving in the pages. I only hope the new book will be a little longer.
Mr. George, you are a great writer and I am going to check out your memoir and other books you have written.

I read this book when I was a teenager because I was a huge fan. My mom bought the book for me and after visiting his childhood home this past Saturday, I need this book back my collection. I don't know what happened to my book, but I'm looking forward to receiving another copy.

I had it a long time ago & I kissed the cover so much it wore all away, I loved the pix in the middle, loved the story & I thought it was very accurate, much better than one or two other ones I read, I'm trying to collect all the Michael books to tide me over till he comes back from hiding or I get a Zanny one of him! This book is well worth the time it takes to read it. But I LOVE Michael Jackson! :) :D
