(Schirmer Performance Editions). This collection of remarkable jewels by Mozart will be invaluable to teachers and students. The book features some of Mozart's earliest works, a few of which were composed when the young Wolfgang was only six years old. Already present are signs of remarkable taste and talent: beautiful melody, impeccable formal construction, and unsurpassed elegance. These pieces are wonderful tools for teaching articulation, independence of the hands, and the classical style. Recordings of this literature are difficult to locate, so this pack includes online audio access to beautifully refined recordings by the editor. Contents: Air in A-flat major (KV Anh. 109b Nr. 8 15ff ) * Allegro in B-flat major (KV 3) * Allegro in F major (KV 1c) * Andante in C major (KV 1a) * Andante in E-flat major (KV 15mm) * Contradance in G major (KV 15e) * Larghetto in F major * Minuet in B-flat major (KV 15pp) * Minuet in C major (from KV 6) * Minuet in D major (KV 7) * Minuet in D major (KV 94 73h ) * Minuet in E-flat major (KV 15qq) * Minuet in F major (KV 2) * Minuet in G major (KV 1e/1f) * Minuet in G major (KV 15c) * Minuet in G major (KV 15y)

In my opinion half or more of the pieces are not "easy" and a definitely not for beginners . There are about as many pages on history, notes, and advice on how to develop "style" as there are pages of sheet music. The book rather than simplifying widely know pieces instead presents largely original scores of early simpler works. So while these are certainly less complicated than Mozart's latter work, I still find it difficult to call several of them "easy". Well, one man's easy is another's intermediate I suppose. Unfortunately the available "look inside" feature does't show the actual sheet music so one is left to accept the title's word for it that the works are in fact "easy". I disagree, most of them are not easy..

I am returning to the piano after 20 years so I knew I needed a lot of coaching. I also absolutely love Mozart so these pieces seemed like the ideal place to start. When a opened the booklet and found the CD with the pieces played on it so I could hear how they were supposed to sound I was overjoyed. Then, of course, I needed a metronome and , guess what? There's an app for that! I am overjoyed and now have the tools to bring my playing up to new levels of competency.

The layout of the music itself is clear and readable and the introductory material is informative and relevant. I wanted to add a review addressing the level of difficulty: I'm currently halfway through book 3 of the Alfred Adult All in One course; I've been playing ~2 years and am a solid intermediate player. I was able to sight read the first five or so pieces and "perfect" a piece with a few days' attention. I found it much more playable than First Lessons in Bach, in comparison.

Selection is good, and quality of printing is good, but the pieces are over-edited. The additional markings both make the printed music cluttered, and also provide some direction that is subjective. Would much prefer either having the edited marks printed in grey, or screened, or just printed without.

Excellent service. Arrived within the week. Many of the delightful pieces written by little Mozart when he was five and six years old. Also comes with a CD so the student can listen and enjoy.

Easy and clear
It should, perhaps, be called 15 extremely easy piano pieces. I like it for myself, since I have arthritis and have had to "drop down" a few steps in order to keep playing. It's an excellent beginner book, but you'll probably rather quickly wish to move on.
