very depressing book. If an alien read it they would think that our history consisted of only death and wars and nothing else

This is one of my favorite books. An absolute must have for anyone interested in history. But it, read it, study it- pass it on.

I was waiting in my doctors office when I saw this on his coffee table. I only got about 1/5th of the way through so I had to order it. It has some of the most amazing black and white pictures that you will ever see from history. It is one of those coffee table books that you can only look at a few minutes and then you have to put it down but you don't want to but because of it's size you have to. It is about the size of your hand in width, length and height.

Purchased this "mini" book for my husband as a Christmas gift. It's a small book, meaning maybe 8x8, but it is really deep, almost like a cube. The print is small, but it is on our coffee table at all times. Informative, photos that haven't been seen, good history lesson.

I've wanted this book ever since I stumbled across it at work one afternoon. It's an outstanding overview of a rather cataclysmic century. The photos were well-curated and the accompanying text gives them the necessary context. Personally I'd rather the text accompanied the photos directly, rather than as notes at the end of each section. Flipping to them got a bit unwieldy in this behemoth of a tome.

This fat little book contains a photograph on almost every page, some dating back to the Nazi horrors during WWII. It includes explanations to the pictures, all of which are interesting.
