Good introduction to the script. I used it along with Pimsleurs Greek (16 lesson version) before tackling any of the self study books. This book keeps your interest with lots of info and exercises. I didn't give it 5 stars because is DOES NOT show you how to write (form) the letters. I don't know of any of the self study books that do. The only one that shows you how to form the letters is the "Communicate in Greek" series by Kleanthis Arvanitakis.
  • Kefym
If you just study 1/2 hr or less a day, the structure of this primer will teach you the Greek alphabet, its phonics, and provide an imaginary cultural framework in which to practice.

Coupled with a more in-depth text, including audio demonstrations and dialogues, it should give a solid base.
