Based on a "whole language approach," THE WRITER'S WAY is a dynamic, process-centered paperback rhetoric with readings. This text recognizes that students learn best by doing, and writers learn best when inspired by compelling reasons to write, aided by strong examples, and reinforced by immediate personal rewards. With frank advice offered in a supportive, encouraging tone, Rawlins and Metzger lead students step by step through the writing process, from pre-writing to polishing the final draft.

Not fond of this text. As a composition instructor, I find a lot of what the writer suggests to students to go against best practices in composition studies. In fact, I only teach from this text because the department has picked it for Composition I courses. If I had my way, I would use any number of other texts that are far more consistent in the time honored approaches to helping developing writer's learn to create and express themselves well.

The book description said it came with the access code for the inline material. When I got the book the code did not work. I contacted the seller to se if I could still get the code and they did not even respond. I ended up paying $70 to buy the code online as I needed it asap for my class. Avoind this seller.

Very good textbook, easy to read with good content. Didn't have to use the "blue" language to make some of his points......thus the 4 stars instead of 5.
