Martin David Brasier FGS, FLS (12 April 1947 – 16 December 2014) was an English palaeobiologist and astrobiologist known for his conceptual analysis of microfossils and evolution in the Precambrian and Cambrian. He was Professor of Palaeobiology at the University of Oxford and Emeritus Fellow of St Edmund Hall.
Armstrong and Brasier manage to make Microfossils interesting and not at the expense of the quality of the information as happens in some textbooks. Information is clearly laid out and easy to find, presented logically under useful subheadings. Along with the wonderful mass of illustrations (line drawings mostly) the quality and concise quantity of information make this the only textbook that a student is likely to need on the topic.
