Take the fear out of math once and for all! By following a distinctive approach in explaining algebra, College Algebra helps alleviate the readers' anxiety toward math. The book encourages them to develop sound study and problem solving skills. In order to make the material more accessible, examples are integrated throughout the chapters that contain more detailed annotations using everyday language. Also, after an example is presented, an exercise is typically included to help readers apply the material right away in order to reinforce the concepts.

As a college student, I took College algebra 5 years ago with a different book. That book was a complete headache to comprehend. I barely passed. I am retaking it because I need calculus to complete my business degree; hence, I am doing a math review... Note that any person may struggle because high-level math classes are NOT a walk-in-the-park.

The book is easy to understand. The summary at the end of each section gives has been helpful for a quick overview. Personally, I think the content its put in a decent order/structure. Tips are given for using a graphing calculator. The chapters are not overally condensed. Like most modern math books, the answers to odd-numbered problems are stated in the Index areas. To fully understand how the problems are actually solved, get the corresponding student solutions manual; For odd-numbered problems, the manual *explains* how the problems are solved... Now, surprisingly, I have gotten A-rated scores on my math tests so far!

This book only contains answers for the odd-numbered problems in the book. The textbook already contains the answers to these problems. I purchased this book thinking that it would contain ALL of the answers to the problems in the book (it is, after all, a solutions manual). Unfortunately, I was mistaken. This is a waste of money, unless you don't have internet access and can't access websites such as Slader which have all of the problems worked out step-by-step...

This is the Student Solutions Manual to accompany the textbook for College Algebra by Cynthia Young. It's quite obvious what this product IS if you read the title. I see someone gave this manual only one star because they thought it was the textbook. That's not really fair to rate a product poorly because they thought it was something else. Anyway, I used this Solutions Manual along with the textbook during the entire semester of the Algebra course I took. I'm happy to say, this was a BIG help with homework! It shows the completed problems, most importantly, completely worked out so you can understand how they got the answer. It does exactly what it was intended to do: give you the answers for the problems in the textbook. There are even answers for the Chapter Review sections! I know I wouldn't have made a B in my Algebra class if I hadn't had this manual. Highly recommended.

My children like the way solutions are explained in this book. This is not their primary book, but I purchased it to help with their homework and to give them another point of view on the material.

What a great buy! My school's bookstore wanted to charge me way more than this price just to rent me a used copy! It is exactly as advertised: A loose-leaf version of the 3rd edition of this textbook. It was delivered promptly, and sealed, nothing weird. The pages are not cheap or thin.
Note: It BARELY fit into my binder, which I believe is a 3 inch. I will probably get a bigger binder, because I am planning on inserting notes for each chapter as I go along. Pocket-Tab dividers for each chapter might be handy too, where I could keep tests and quizzes. I much prefer loose leaf to a standard textbook because I can keep everything for the class in one binder. Just grab it and go, no forgetting anything! :)

This was my first time buying books on Amazon and the second seller that is selling instructor copies for full price. When you go to trade them in the ISBN number doesn't match and you can't resell the book. Parents check the ISBN when the book is shipped and return anyone that doesn't match. This is real unscrupulous practice that seems to be a pattern from a number of seller's Amazon. They are substituting copies they get free for the real thing. Return any book that doesn't match the ISBN number exactly!!!!!
I didn't like this book or the student solutions manual, as the SSM did not go through step-by-step instructions on how to solve problems. The answers in the SSM would make you guess HOW to solve the problems. Was tough for me to study from.
