As Gary F. Field is a good author (his books on colour reproduction are excellent reads), I was expecting it also here. To my slight disappointment the ins and outs of the digital scanning and imaging are missing.

As Gary F. There are some basics but I was expecting more details on working principles. Also there is no material on scanner imagesetters and imagesetting which would be useful. The material on scanning facilities and training courses could be omitted at least in my opinion.
